The 2024 Lovie Awards Celebrates Wins Across Europe

LONDON, UK, 7th November, 2024 – The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS) is proud to announce the 14th Annual Lovie Award winners of 2024. About 28 countries around the world submitted and competed to win the most prestigious pan-European award recognising the best digital innovations in technology, business, and culture.
Across Europe, the UK swept most of the wins (119 awards) followed by the Netherlands (85 awards), Germany (45 awards), France (27 awards) and Spain (18 awards). The Nordic countries collectively won a respectable total of 24 awards. It was also a record-breaking year for the People’s Lovie Awards as more than 100,000 votes were cast, a 50% increase from last year.
Creativity and collaboration took center stage for many of this year’s Lovie award recipients as big names partnered up for a win. Winners of “Best Partnership and Collaboration” include: Crocs x Jacob Collier Collaboration from Hey Honey (Gold), The Ikea Catalogue from Dazed Studio (Gold), British Vogue x eBay Forces For Change from Condé Nast (Silver) and Don’t Drive or Drive featuring Olympic winner Tom Daley from Wieden+Kennedy London (Bronze, People’s Lovie Winner).
The Lovies “Beyond” categories which recognises exceptional digital projects that can positively impact global society included a mix of heartwarming and eye-opening champions. Winners include: A Soup to Remember from Bruketa & Zinic & Grey (Gold), Space Trash Signs from Serviceplan/ Plan.Net Germany (Gold, People’s Lovie Winner), #TheDonationMap from Havas Media Network (Silver and Silver People’s Lovie Winner), Get Trained, Save Lives: Interactive CPR Training from UEFA (Bronze) and ReRooted from On the Edge (Bronze, People’s Lovie Winner).
The 2024 Lovies is also honoring the extraordinary contributions and accomplishments of four unique individuals:
Brian Eno will receive the Lovie Lifetime Achievement – for his massive contributions and advancement in the world of music, art, and environment. His first generative feature film, “Eno,” is an innovative technological experiment that offers viewers 52 quintillion possible versions, showcasing an ethical use case for AI in entertainment and film. Eno is also the founder of the Hard Art collective, uniting artists, activists, and scientists to drive change.
Dame Pat McGrath will receive a Lovie Special Achievement – for consistently setting new standards and launching viral trends such as the porcelain “glass skin” at the Maison Margiela spring/summer 2024 runway show. Dame McGrath’s unique talent, pioneering spirit, and innovative use of social media and technology keeps her audience enthralled.
Giuseppe Federici will receive the Lovie Creator of the Year Award for his work as @sepps_eats on TikTok and Instagram. Federici makes cooking accessible with his delightful Italian “nonna.” The duo’s sweet family dynamic, coupled with tasty ideas and recipes, showcases the positive impact of digital platforms.
Wikiesfera will receive a Lovie Special Achievement for championing the global representation of women in history through digital archives, notably on Wikipedia. Its network of editors and journalists has contributed to 2,000 Spanish-language articles focused on women’s biographies and health.
Paola Cortellesi will receive a Lovie Film & Video Person of the Year award for her profound impact on European internet culture and cinema. Her directorial debut “There’s Still Tomorrow” (C’è Ancora Domani) explored real-life themes such as femicide and societal violence, making it the highest-grossing film of 2023 and the most successful film directed by an Italian woman.
“This year’s Lovie winners truly took innovation to the next level as creativity and ingenuity shined in all our categories,” said Claire Graves, President of the Lovie Awards. “We saw a shared ethos for meaningful collaborations and partnerships, as well as an intent desire to show how the Internet can be used in the most positive way – through humor, education, emotions, and stunning visualization. Each winner represents the best in Europe, and we commend their achievements today.”

Who started the Lovie Awards?
The Lovie Awards was created by the team behind the International Webby Awards 2010. It is judged by the European arm of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS). There are over 3,000+ IADAS members composed of leading Internet experts, business figures, luminaries, visionaries, artists, talented entertainers, and creators. The IADAS also judges the Webbys.
What’s the difference between the Webbys and the Lovies?
In 2010, the Webbys launched its European sister award program the Lovies which focuses specifically on the European Internet community. The Lovies recognises Europe’s top Internet and creative companies and content publishers to cultural and political organisations and individual creators. The Lovie Awards is judged in seven European languages: Spanish, Italian, Dutch, French, German, Swedish, and English. The Webby Awards is only judged in English.
Can you submit for the Lovies and the Webbys?
Yes, and you can submit multiple entries and categories for both.
Will the same judges review my Webbys and Lovies submission?
No, as the Lovies judges sit in Europe and focus on submissions specifically for the Lovies.
Do you have to be in Europe to submit to the Lovies?
The Lovie Awards recognizes work made for and by Europeans, so it can be made outside of Europe as long as it is made for a European Audience.
How many categories exist?
The Lovie Awards offers eight types of entries: Websites & Mobile Sites; Marketing, Advertising & PR; Film & Video; Apps, Platforms & Software; Podcasts; Social; AI, Web3 & XR; Beyond.
What do Lovie winners win?
Lovie winners are awarded Gold, Silver or Bronze. Finalists can also win a People’s Lovie Award when the online public votes for the favourite finalists.
How do the Lovies select its Special Achievement Honours?
All Lovie Special Achievement winners are selected by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.
Do submissions need to be in English?
No, entries are accepted in seven languages: English, Dutch, French, Spanish, Italian, Swedish and German. Other European language websites are not forbidden from entering, but the sites must be accessible to our English, Dutch, French, Spanish, Italian, Swedish and German speaking judges.
